i dont know if this is in the right thread... but it feels like it should be here XD
anyway i'm looking for an external hdd for my notebook... so yeah.... anyone can recommend a brand or can help me with price check...? any form of help would be appreciated... i'm in kl btw >.<
looking for something around 120gb

sry i dun kno much about hds. maybe other members can help. y do u need 120GB for anyways?

cos my notebook only has 40gb hdd... and i need space to store all my anime XD

if its animes, i think u shud just get a dvd writer. i mean.. what u gonna do when that 120GB is used up? just my opinion tho. for me i dl tons of games and animes, thats y i prefer DVD-Rs.. the only problem is that dvd-r dont last too long.

ugh yeah... thats the only problem....a decent dvd-r costs around rm10.... and it could hardly store one entire series of anime (case in point.... dvd-r = 4gb... black cat 23 eps = 5.5gb)
and sometimes the data in them gets lost or unreadable when scratched... which is why i prefer a hdd

RM10?! u dun hafta get that type of DVD-R lol.. just get something about RM2-5. i hear those can last at least 3-5 yrs. since i dl RMVB animes, on 1 dvd i can fit in about 2-5 animes depending on the number of eps.

but i heard about DVD-RAM. yes DVD-RAM. they dont work as ur CPU RAM if thats what u might think. Only the method it uses to burn is just like a RAM. i cant explain much here but i heard they can last about 30years at least.

lol you could nvr find a dvd-r for RM2-5 in kl... i think it takes at least RM7 to get a decent one... around thr i guess
but i'm still thinking of getting a hdd... after all... u could lose a cd but you cant lose a hdd.... (or can you? o.O)

Actually DVD got more than 4gb de, i think u can try find it... Why
dont use DVD-RW? can add in more animes so the space wont waste. External Hdd oso can, my brother wanna buy it be4, about 300gb i think lar!!!

holy...! 300gb!! oh well i heard my friend has 1tb anyway....
anyway DVD-RW has the same storage space as a DVD-R... which means in terms of storing data... its the same except DVD-RW costs more (btw you can add in files into a DVD-R also)
so my mind's still on a hdd... though i still hvnt found the time to go over to lowyat to find one yet...
